NBC records 17.7 billion viewers during Premier League 2022/23 season

The Premier League 2022/23 season was the second most watched season in US history

The viewership numbers of the Premier League 2022/23 season are now beginning to roll out and NBC has recently released record-breaking figures. According to NBC the Premier League season 2022/23 was the second most watched in US history.

NBC Sports experienced a three per cent-on-year (YoY) increase in viewership and averaged a total audience delivery (TAD) of 527,000 viewers per TV match window.

Nine matches touched the average TAD of at least 1 million viewers. The thrilling Arsenal vs Manchester United match which the Gunners won 3-2 was the most watched Premier League game ever in the US, attracting 1.9 million viewers across NBC, Peacock and NBC Sports Digital platforms.

In addition to this, the Arsenal vs Manchester United fixture set the record for the largest average minute audience (AMA) for a simulstream Premier League match with 510,000 viewers in an average minute.

Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester City's game which took place on 5th February also set a milestone as it was the second-most watched game in the history of the United States.

Over the course of the season, NBC Sports' all platforms generated a record 17.7 billion live match minutes. As compared to last season, this number increased by nine per cent.

In terms of live-streaming platform, Liverpool's draw against Arsenal in April recorded the biggest viewership. There were an average of 833,000 viewers for the game.

NBC Sports to broadcast Premier League's Summer Series in the US

The NBC network has been the home venue of the Premier League since 2013, and these numbers are really expected to play a major role in increasing market value. NBC signed its most recent extension with the Premier League in 2021, which was worth a total of $2.7 billion dollars.

NBC Sports has also recently secured exclusive rights in the US to the Premier League's Summer Series pre-season tournament, scheduled to take place from the 22nd to the 30th of July, which will be broadcast on NBC Sports and streamed on Peacock.
