The Qatar World Cup 2022 was a sporting spectacle purely because of the emotion involved and the quality of the games. Lionel Messi ended Argentina’s World Cup drought by beating France in the finals on December 18, 2022, in one of the best finals of all time. Morocco managed to make it to the semi-finals as well, knocking out heavyweights Spain and Portugal in the process. All in all, each and every game at the world cup had its own story to tell.
Shoot The Company has launched the official movie covering the marquee event. It has been narrated by Michael Sheen.
Shoot The Company has previously worked with FIFA on similar projects but this time around they had five different filming crews covering almost all aspects of the tournament. The crews attended every game at the competition, capturing 17 days’ worth of action.
The movie has been titled ‘Written in the Stars’ and is available for viewing via the FIFA+ applications and the official broadcast partners of FIFA.
Tom Hillier, the co-founder of Shoot The Company and executive producer of the project admitted that it was a huge honour for the company to bag the contract for the World Cup movie for the second time running. This is what Hillier said,
“Being commissioned by FIFA to produce the World Cup official film is a huge honour for any agency. Following Shoot the Company’s World Cup official film in 2018, we were delighted to be awarded the contract once again for the historic 2022 tournament, the first to be held in the Arab world.
“The drama that everyone witnessed unfolding in Qatar was pure sporting theatre. From Morocco’s journey to the semi-finals to Messi’s emotional quest for glory, the 2022 World Cup was a tournament like no other, culminating on December 18th in one of the most dramatic football matches ever witnessed.”
Paul Redman, head of production at FIFA Studios Content Production has also acclaimed that the movie is a “must-watch” for any fan or lover of the game. This is what he had to say,

The reviews of the movie have been largely positive because of the backroom access that it provides to the viewer. All in all, Qatar World Cup 2022 was a grand success on all fronts despite its off-pitch issues.
