Ballers: Ball or Nothing is a docu-series production by BBC Three and BBC Scotland. The docu-series follows the Caledonia Gladiators’ 2022/23 British Basketball League season in their first season.
The first episode aired on 18 September. The entire documentary is broken down into 8 episodes with 30-minute episodes, covering each detail briefly of Scotland’s only professional basketball team through their BBL Trophy-winning 2022-23 season, as they ended a 20-year streak of not winning any silverware.
The series is available on BBC3, and the entire series is also available on iPlayer for fans to access this exclusive documentary.
Sean Skelly, Caledonia’s head of men’s basketball, who features heavily in the series, said:
“The documentary is a fantastic showpiece for the club over an amazing 12 months. I think it’s fantastic for the fans to get a glimpse at the behind-the-scenes workings. I hope this gets us out to a new audience at an exciting time for us.”
Max Welch, CEO of Renowned Films added:
“It’s a true underdog story following a pivotal season for the Gladiators as they end their trophy drought. With new ownership bringing grand plans and investment to the franchise. The series couldn’t have captured a more exciting time in British Basketball.”
The story of the club is no less than a perfect Hollywood script as it all started after the arrival of the new owners last year. The club was used to be called Glasgow Rocks but new owners rebranded it as Caledonia Gladiators.
The documentary takes through all this and has picked up glimpses of staff, players and fans to get a full view of the club to understand the running of both on and off-court.
The documentary takes through all kinds of ups and downs of the team and the team's growth under the new leadership of the new owners, Steve and Alison Timoney.
