Arteta claimed that Arsenal's past points surpass Liverpool's title-winning tally, suggesting two undeserved titles

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, has recently made a series of puzzling statements about Liverpool's Premier League title victory. These claims have been proven to be false and seem to be an attempt to undermine the success of Liverpool.

Under Arsene Wenger, Arsenal was a beloved team for many football enthusiasts due to their free-flowing style of play that appealed greatly to neutrals. However, under Arteta's leadership, the Gunners have adopted more conservative tactics and moved away from their previously admired style.

Arteta has been at the helm for over five years but has only managed one FA Cup win during this period. This season was expected to be a turning point for Arsenal with Manchester City out of contention for the league title. However, instead of capitalizing on this opportunity, it is Liverpool who have emerged as the country’s top team - a fact that Arteta seems unwilling or unable to acknowledge.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, said:

“We are going to try and do it this season but winning trophies is about being in the right moment in the right place,”

“Liverpool have won the title with less points than we have in the last two seasons. So for the past two seasons we have two Premier League [titles]. You have to be in the right moment in the right place. Hopefully we will be in the right place in the right moment in Paris tomorrow and earn that right to be in the final.”

Debunking Arteta’s false claims

Arteta's recent claim inaccurately compares Liverpool's current performance with Arsenal's past seasons, as in the 2024/25 season, Liverpool has already secured their title triumph with 82 points after 35 games, whereas under Arteta’s management in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Arsenal only managed to accumulate a total of 84 and 89 points respectively after playing the same number of Premier League games.

This clearly shows that despite his claims otherwise; under his management so far; even in their best performing seasons –Arsenal hasn’t matched up against current performance of Liverpool.

Arteta's claims seem to be a misguided attempt to downplay Liverpool's success and divert attention from his own team’s underperformance. It is important for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike to critically evaluate such statements, considering the actual statistics and facts. As it stands, Liverpool has proven themselves as the country's best team this season, regardless of any unfounded claims made by rival managers.
