Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix. As part of the deal, Conor Gallagher will be moving in the opposite direction.

The exact fee for 24-year-old Portuguese international Joao Felix remains undisclosed. However, it is confirmed that this agreement will enable him to return to Stamford Bridge on a six-year contract with an option for an additional season.

Felix's move is still subject to a medical examination but once completed, it will mark his return after a loan spell at Chelsea in 2023. During his previous stint in west London, he scored four goals across 20 appearances.

Conor Gallagher's move to Atletico Madrid

In contrast, England midfielder Conor Gallagher is set to sign a five-year deal with Atletico Madrid. He had been training alone at Chelsea's Cobham training ground after being left uncertain about his future due to stalled negotiations.

The collapse of talks between Chelsea and striker Samu Omorodion delayed Gallagher's £33m move as Atleti needed first-team sales funds before finalizing the transfer.

However, with Felix’s impending move back to Stamford Bridge now confirmed, this paves the way for Gallagher’s anticipated signing at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. He was photographed there nine days ago awaiting confirmation before delays forced him back home last Tuesday.

Future transfer plans

As we approach deadline day on August 30th, Chelsea plans on focusing more on player sales but maintains interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. This comes as Napoli continues their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku who remains registered under Chelsea but has no future there according to club sources.

Napoli reportedly made a second offer proposing a loan deal with an obligation-to-buy clause worth £25.5m for Romelu Lukaku. However, this is expected to be rejected as it falls short of Chelsea's asking price of around £35m.

The transfer window continues to heat up with these significant moves and potential deals in the pipeline. Both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on developments as they unfold.
