Liam Rosenior's recent dismissal from Stamford Bridge has fueled rumors of Lampard's potential third term at Chelsea

Coventry chairman Doug King has reassured Sky Blues fans amidst rumors linking head coach Frank Lampard with a return to his former club, Chelsea. King urged supporters not to fret over "what may or may not happen," following speculation about Lampard's future.

Lampard, the former Blues midfielder, has been instrumental in leading the Sky Blues back into top-flight football for the first time in more than 25 years. His leadership culminated in a triumphant 5-1 victory over Portsmouth on Tuesday night, securing the Championship title. This followed a crucial point earned against Blackburn four days earlier that guaranteed their promotion.

In his first full season as head coach of Coventry, Lampard has significantly raised his profile and reputation within football circles. His successful tenure at Coventry has inevitably led to him being linked with other high-profile positions within the sport.

Speculations around Stamford Bridge return

The recent sacking of Liam Rosenior from Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening sparked rumors of a potential third stint for Lampard at Chelsea. The speculation comes as no surprise given his previous ties with the club and recent success at Coventry.

However, King remains unfazed by these speculations and insists that it is part and parcel of football’s “merry-go-round.” He acknowledges that it was inevitable for such links to surface considering Lampard’s rising stock in football management.

Coventry chairman, Doug King, said:

"He's done a fantastic job, it's been an incredible 18 months for us and for him. I am sure he's in reflective mode. I said to him 'do not underestimate how difficult what you've just achieved is to do'.

"He's done huge things in his playing career but to get out of this league as champions without a parachute payment, from where we've come from, is a huge achievement nobody can take away from him. Everybody is going to get linked with everything, it's a merry-go-round. It's a bit disappointing clubs are appointing three or four managers a season. We don't want to be in those positions, that means something has gone a little bit astray."

Despite these swirling rumours around their beloved coach's future, Sky Blues fans should focus on celebrating their team’s remarkable achievement under Frank Lampard’s stewardship rather than worrying about what might happen next. The chairman's message is clear: enjoy this momentous occasion now; there will be plenty of time later to address whatever changes may come.
