The ongoing World Cup is nearing its end with semi-finals lined up for Friday

The ongoing FIBA World Cup has now reached 190 spaces around the world. The buzz of basketball has always been hot, but it's not all about the NBA this time.

In the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan, the World Cup began on the 25th of August. There has been a great deal of buzz around the tournament, and it is being broadcast in 190 countries.

As far as their broadcasting portfolio is concerned, ESPN is broadcasting the tournament in the US, Australia, and Brazil. In Italy, DAZN has partnered with RAI. In the Middle East and France, beIN Sports is the partner.

The federation's D2C Courtside 1891 group is broadcasting this mega event in the UK and Ireland.

During the World Cup, the NBA has also partnered with Courtside 1891 to offer its fans a comprehensive package on the NBA App and the NBA website.

Digital platforms have played a significant role in increasing the reach of sports, with countries like India, Pakistan, and Oman finding partners, a big success that FIBA deserves credit for.

The penultimate stage of the World Cup has begun

On the first day of the World Cup, there were dozens of contenders staking their claim, but now it has been narrowed down to four. Serbia will play Canada on Friday in the first semifinal, and the USA will play Germany on Friday in the second semifinal.

Spain has already been eliminated and the new champion is set to be crowned. The stakes are high this time around in USA team, but they have been shaky at times. Lithuania beat them in the final group match, giving a sense of the unpredictability this time around.

After giants USA, Germany and Canada will be the favourites, and it will be interesting to see how their battle unfolds. With the influx of new fans to basketball, FIBA will be looking to capitalize on this opportunity.

With 190 countries watching this World Cup, it is certainly a good sign for the sport and a sign it is being revolutionized by the digital era.
