At present, Crystal Palace are at the forefront in showing interest for Johnson

Tottenham's Europa League final match-winner, Brennan Johnson, is facing an uncertain future at the club amid growing interest from other Premier League teams. Despite not actively seeking to sell the Wales international, Tottenham has indicated that they are open to letting Johnson leave if a suitable offer comes their way.

Crystal Palace currently leads the pack in expressing interest for Johnson. However, it is believed that several other teams are closely monitoring his situation and could potentially make a move before the January transfer window closes.

Johnson was Tottenham's leading Premier League goalscorer last season with 11 goals under his belt. He also etched his name in Spurs folklore by scoring the winning goal in their Europa League final triumph over Manchester United in Bilbao. This victory ended a 17-year trophy drought for the club. However, changes within the team have seen him play more of a peripheral role this season.

Impact of coaching changes on Johnson’s role

The departure of Ange Postecoglou and arrival of Thomas Frank as new head coach has significantly impacted Johnson's role within the team. The 24-year-old forward has made only six top-flight starts under Frank this season compared to his previous active participation.

This shift has alerted several clubs to his potential availability before the January transfer window closes. Given his lack of action and with an upcoming World Cup with Wales on horizon, a move away from Tottenham may be beneficial for both parties next month. Johnson joined Tottenham from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £47.5m back in summer 2023 and since then he scored 27 goals for Spurs making him one of their key players during this period.

While it remains uncertain where Brennan will land next month or whether he will stay at Tottenham, it is clear that his talent and potential have not gone unnoticed in the Premier League. His future will undoubtedly be one of the key talking points as we approach the January transfer window.
