Manchester United, one of the most iconic football clubs in the world, is gearing up for a significant summer window at Old Trafford. The club is already clearing its deck with high-profile stars set to exit. Fabrizio Romano, a renowned sports journalist, has confirmed that another big name will follow Brazilian legend Casemiro out of the club.
Manchester United has been strategically revamping its squad over time. Last summer saw an overhaul of their forward line and now it's time for their midfield to undergo transformation. The club's approach focuses on addressing specific areas of their squad each summer and this time around, central midfield is under scrutiny.
The Red Devils have set their sights on three primary targets - Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. However, they are not looking to settle for just one player from this trio; instead they aim to sign at least two.
Making way
To make room for new signings and free up funds, top earner Casemiro is making his exit from Manchester United. Earning around £350k per week currently makes him one of the highest earners in the team; his departure will significantly reduce the wage bill.
Casemiro will be leaving via free agency but he won't be alone in his departure according to Fabrizio Romano who confirms that another high-profile star will soon follow suit.
Fabrizio Romano, Transfer guru, said:
“Who’s going to leave the club? For sure in the summer it’s going to be Andre Onana. Onana is on loan at Trabzonspor and Man Utd’s decision is already quite clear. They’re not expected to continue with Onana next summer. The idea is to part ways and find a solution. There were reports in England about a potential return to Inter. I’m not aware about that.
“His agents were in Milan, yes, but his agents are in a powerful agency who are working on several deals and they were in Milan on separate topics, not for an Inter move [for Onana]. But there will be several clubs interested in Onana. He’ll assess all his options and what I can tell you today is that Onana is expected to leave Manchester United and to try a different kind of experience in the 2026/27 season.”
Romano took to YouTube recently where he confirmed that plans have already been formalised by Manchester United to sell goalkeeper Andre Onana at season’s end. Currently loaned out at Trabzonspor without an option or obligation clause attached means that Onana will return back home after this season ends but probably shouldn’t unpack his bags as he might be next in line for an exit.
Manchester United's monumental summer window is shaping up to be a game-changer for the club. With strategic exits and targeted signings, the club is poised to revamp its midfield and build a stronger squad. As sports fans and betting enthusiasts keep their eyes peeled on these developments, it will be interesting to see how these changes impact Manchester United's performance in the upcoming seasons.
