With just nine games left in this season, Tottenham are precariously positioned just one point above the relegation zone

In light of their precarious position in the Premier League table, Tottenham Hotspur have offered its fans an extended period to decide on renewing their season tickets. This move comes as a response to the club's current league standing and recent performance.

Last year, Spurs gave supporters until Tuesday, 27 May - two days after the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season - to decide if they wanted to renew for the present campaign. However, this time around, fans were initially given until Tuesday, 26 May - two days after this season's final league match - to make a decision.

In a recent message sent out by Spurs management, it was announced that supporters now have from Thursday, 12 March until Sunday, 7 June to reach a decision about ticket renewal. This extension is due in part to "the seriousness of the current league position" and follows discussions with both fan advisory board and Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust.

Struggling performance

Tottenham currently sits just one point above the relegation zone with nine games remaining in this season. The team has lost five consecutive league games and faces an upcoming trip against Liverpool on Sunday. The club recently sacked Thomas Frank as manager in February due to poor performance and replaced him with interim boss Igor Tudor. Unfortunately for Spurs fans worldwide, Tudor has lost his first three Premier League games in charge and suffered a heavy defeat at Atletico Madrid during his side's last-16 Champions League tie.

During a meeting involving fan advisory board held on March 3rd which minutes were released by Tottenham on Wednesday; it was acknowledged that there had been several areas where they had been "falling short". The club admitted there had been an "insufficient focus" across all levels regarding "on-pitch success", and a "lack of specialist expertise" in certain areas.

The club's wage structure and player transaction approach were cited as factors that had affected their competitiveness in the transfer market. The squad was recognized to need "strengthening in terms of quality, experience, and leadership". However, financial pressures from heavy transfer spending and limited sales have "increased the relevance" of Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints.

Spurs also acknowledged an internal culture that needed improvement and a growing disconnect with its supporter base. The ownership realized that significant change was required to tackle these issues. As such, they are undertaking a rebuild across the organization to address them. Tottenham Hotspur is facing challenging times both on and off the pitch. By extending their ticket renewal deadline, they are giving fans more time to decide if they want to continue supporting the team through what could be a difficult season ahead. It remains to be seen how these changes will affect Spurs' performance going forward.
