Messi, Neymar and Mbappe available across Eurosport platforms for the rest of the 2023/24 season

Warner Bros. Discovery, parent company of Eurosport, has agreed an exclusive broadcast rights deal with the Professional Football League (LFP) via their global broadcast partner BeIN Media Group, to air exclusive coverage of the French top flight Ligue 1 for the remainder of this season.

Previous rights holder Kosmos, owned by former Barcelona star Gerard Pique, has dropped the rights to the remainder of the season, as Eurosport steps in to take over.

Kosmos, whose owner Pique has been involved in a very public running battle with ex Shakira in recent months, are attempting to scale back their investment operations at this time.

Under the deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and BeIN, Eurosport will air two fixtures per gameweek from Ligue 1. One of those two games will always feature Paris Saint-Germain, with the network hoping to make the most of the star power of the likes of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe.

The deal officially began two gameweeks ago with Eurosport already airing PSG's defeat against Monaco and victory over Lille. The network will continue by showing the champions' game against Marseille this weekend.

Ligue 1 fixtures will be available across Warner Bros. Discovery's various platforms, including Eurosport pay-TV channels, free-to-air channel DMAX (which aired the PSG v Monaco game) and online via the Discovery+ platform.

Warner Bros Discovery General Manger for Italy and Iberia, Alessandro Araimo, said:

“We are very pleased and proud to be able to offer audiences in Spain full and exclusive access to one of the best football leagues in the world that brings together some of the biggest stars in the sport such as Messi, Neymar and Mbappé.”

This weekend's clash between Marseille and PSG will be welcomed heartily by Eurosport. A clash between first and second in Ligue 1 to either keep the title race alive or kill it should provide just the drama needed to garner positive ratings for the network.

As the season goes on, Eurosport will hope that the appeal of PSG's star front three of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe can attract enough Spanish football fans to make this deal worthwhile.
