Opta AI supercomputer has predicted Liverpool to win Premier League

Arsenal has been dealt a significant blow in the latest Premier League title predictions, according to the Opta AI supercomputer. The analysis shows Liverpool emerging as the new favourites following Manchester City’s unexpected defeat to Brighton.

Under their new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool has set an impressive pace this season. They have accumulated 28 points from a possible 33, placing them firmly at the top of the table. This lead was extended with a confident 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield.

The win saw Liverpool sitting five points clear after Manchester City slipped up at home against Brighton earlier on Saturday. Despite taking an initial lead through Erling Haaland, City fell to their fourth consecutive defeat across all competitions due to goals from Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley.

Arsenal's struggle continues

Meanwhile, Arsenal managed to salvage a point away at Chelsea but now find themselves in fourth place. They are nine points behind Liverpool as the league enters its third international break.

According to simulations run by Opta supercomputer on the remainder of the season (10,000 times), Liverpool now holds a 60.3% chance of claiming the Premier League title—a massive leap from their pre-season odds of just 5.1%.

Sharp drop for Manchester City

Manchester City’s title chances have sharply dropped following their recent setbacks; going from an 82.2% likelihood in pre-season down to just 34.3%. Similarly, Arsenal’s chances have also diminished significantly - they now stand at just 5%, marking a decrease of 7.2% since the start of this campaign. If Arsenal manages a comeback from this position, they would break Blackburn Rovers’ record for overturning largest points deficit after eleven league matches.

Following the international break, Liverpool will face Southampton before hosting Manchester City in a highly anticipated mid-season showdown at Anfield. Despite their strong start, manager Arne Slot has emphasised that Liverpool are not getting ahead of themselves and acknowledges the quality of their competitors.

While the Opta AI supercomputer's predictions may be disheartening for Arsenal fans, they provide an exciting outlook for Liverpool supporters. However, as always in football, anything can happen and it will be interesting to see how the remainder of the season unfolds.
