Former England international and football legend, Wayne Rooney, has confidently backed Arsenal to secure the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City. This prediction comes after Mikel Arteta's side delivered a convincing 3-0 victory against Fulham on Saturday.
Arsenal has been in impressive form this season, moving six points clear at the top of the Premier League table with their recent win over Fulham. Despite facing some criticism following back-to-back defeats against Bournemouth and City last month, they have managed to bounce back strongly.
Rooney is confident that Arsenal will continue their winning streak in their remaining three Premier League games against West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace. He believes that these victories will be instrumental in securing the coveted title for Arteta’s team.
Wayne Rooney, Premier League legend, said:
‘I think Arsenal will win it. I felt this after Man City beat Arsenal as well. I felt it was maybe in Arsenal’s heads having to go to Man City and losing in the cup final to them.
‘But I think still being there, level on points after that City defeat, and I think the fixtures are more favourable for Arsenal. I think they’ll win every game. And I could see City slipping up in one or two games. I could see Arsenal actually being quite comfortable, I think maybe three, five points.'
Manchester City's challenge
Manchester City, on the other hand, still have two games in hand and can reduce the gap to just three points with a win away at Everton on Monday night. However, Rooney predicts that Pep Guardiola’s side may falter under pressure. While it remains uncertain whether his prediction will come true or not - given football’s unpredictable nature - it certainly adds an extra layer of intrigue as we approach the climax of this year’s Premier League season.
Despite being at the top of league standings currently, doubts had been raised over Arsenal’s title credentials due to their consecutive losses last month. Critics questioned whether they could maintain consistency throughout a gruelling season filled with high-pressure matches. However, these doubts seem unfounded now as Arteta's men have shown resilience by bouncing back from those defeats and maintaining their lead at the top spot. Their recent performance has demonstrated both skillful playmaking and solid defensive strategies which are key ingredients for any potential champion team.
As the Premier League season draws to a close, Rooney's prediction adds an exciting twist to the title race. Whether Arsenal will 'comfortably' win as he suggests, or Manchester City will stage a comeback remains to be seen. One thing is certain - football fans and sports betting enthusiasts are in for a thrilling finish. While predictions can add spice to the competition, it's ultimately down to the teams' performances on the pitch that will determine who lifts this year’s Premier League trophy.
