Guglielmo Vicario has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan ahead of a summer transfer away from Tottenham Hotspur, with the Italian goalkeeper understood to have committed to a four-year deal worth approximately €3 million per season at San Siro — removing Yann Sommer's long-term replacement from the market.
Tottenham made the decision back in January to sanction Vicario's departure regardless of their final league position, a resolution that opened the door for Inter's pursuit. Despite strong interest from Juventus, Vicario made clear his preference was to join Inter, who have moved swiftly to wrap up a personal agreement. A club-to-club fee is the final remaining obstacle, with Inter understood to be prepared to offer in the region of £15-17 million.
A difficult spell in north London
Vicario joined Tottenham from Empoli in 2023 for €20 million and made over 100 appearances across three seasons, keeping 29 clean sheets. However, a string of high-profile errors compounded Spurs' defensive fragility this season, and a hernia operation during the international break has kept him sidelined since March. Roberto De Zerbi has subsequently used Antonin Kinsky in the final weeks of the campaign.
The new Tottenham manager has already signalled his preferred successor. De Zerbi is understood to have approved a move for Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, the 23-year-old Dutch international he personally signed during his time at the Amex Stadium. The existing relationship between manager and player is considered a significant advantage in what would represent a straightforward cultural transition.
Manchester City's James Trafford is also being assessed as an alternative option, though Verbruggen is understood to be De Zerbi's first choice depending on which division Tottenham are playing in next season.
