Audiovisual rights for the Spanish top flight are available from 2022/23 until 2026/27
La Liga has opened proceedings to sell its TV rights in the UK and Ireland for upcoming editions of the Santander La Liga. Those interested in purchasing must submit offers by February 25. It is compulsory to put in an offer for the next three seasons starting with 2022/23, but also optional to bid for the next four of five seasons ending in 2026/27
La Liga is currently available in the UK via the league's own channel La Liga TV. The channel itself is available through Premier Sports. Whether or not Premier Sports will be bidding for this tender is unknown. With BT Sport set to be purchased by DAZN, perhaps they might be in the mix. Sky could of course make an offer.
Broadcasters are free to ask questions about the tender until the deadline of 14 February. After that point they must finalise and submit their bids, outlining which seasons they want access to. There is also the option for a bidder to purchase UK only TV rights or UK and Ireland rights.
It will be business as usual for the rest of this season with La Liga being available on La Liga TV and Premier Sports. Then starting from next August the destination for watching the Spanish top flight in the UK and Ireland may change. That will depend on who emerges as the preferred bidder.
