The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup is already making headlines, not just for its expanded format but also for the staggering prices of its first ticket packages. With over a year to go until the tournament kicks off, fans are in for a shock as they discover that the most expensive package exceeds $70,000.
The 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup will be hosted by three North American countries - United States, Canada and Mexico. This tournament will feature an unprecedented number of teams - 48 in total - competing across 104 matches over five weeks.
Eleven out of sixteen host cities are located within the United States, providing fans with an opportunity to witness matches at some of North America's largest and most iconic stadiums. FIFA has partnered with On Location to release three types of ticket packages based on specific venues, teams and matches. The options range from $5,300 (£3,974) per person for the cheapest package to a whopping $73,200 (£54,750) for the most expensive one.
Venue-specific packages
Fans who wish to attend all games at a particular venue can opt for venue-specific packages. For instance, MetLife Stadium's premium package includes tickets to all eight matches scheduled there next summer including sideline seating and access to a luxurious pitchside lounge during the final match.
Similar packages are available for other venues such as SoFi Stadium and AT&T Stadium.
For those who want to follow their favorite team throughout their journey in this tournament can choose "Follow My Team" package. For example if you're rooting for Spain (La Roja), you can secure tickets starting from $8,950 (£6,709) per person which covers every group stage game (and possibly round of 32 match) for Spain.
Four match series
The most affordable package currently on sale is the "Four Match" series. This allows fans to attend four group stage matches of their choice across the United States, excluding the USMNT's opening match. The starting price for this package is $5,300 (£3,974).
As preparations are underway to host fans from across the globe next summer for soccer's biggest tournament, Vice President JD Vance expressed his eagerness for "everyone" to experience the FIFA World Cup. However, he also cautioned fans not to overstay their welcome once the tournament concludes.
Regular tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are expected to go on sale later this year with prices yet to be confirmed. Despite these high prices, there's no denying that witnessing history unfold at such a grand scale will be an unforgettable experience for sports and betting enthusiasts alike.
