Amazon to stream 11 exclusive Roland-Garros night sessions from 2024

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) and Amazon have agreed a new four-year exclusive domestic broadcast deal, meaning that Prime Video will continue to air French Open night sessions until 2027.

Prime Video has been broadcasting the prestigious tournament since 2021, with the current agreement providing rights to 10 night sessions. However, the new deal will see the subscription service stream 11 exclusive night seasons.

The agreement also includes exclusive rights to two French Open quarter-final matches, while Amazon Prime Video will retain non-exclusive rights to both the semi-finals and final.

Alex Green, European managing director for sport at Prime Video, said:

“We’ve greatly enjoyed partnering with the FFT to establish the night sessions as essential evening viewing in France. With even more headline matches from 2024, we will build on this progress to deliver the highest quality broadcast for our Prime members.”

Although some players have struggled to adapt to the late matches at Roland-Garros in recent years, Amazon’s viewership numbers for the tournament have continued to climb.

In fact, when Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal faced off in the men’s singles quarter-finals last year, the match reached more than three million viewers on Prime Video.

With full French commentary, match replays and expert studio analysis on offer, Amazon’s French Open coverage looks set to continue to attract strong audiences.

Last month, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Warner Bros. Discovery inked a new long-term partnership to show the US Open across Europe, with Eurosport and discovery+ set to screen the action.

The 2023 French Open kicks off on May 28 and ends on June 11. Rafael Nadal is the reigning men’s singles champion, while Iga Swiatek is the defending women’s singles champ.
