The United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Warner Bros Discovery have agreed on a multi-year extension that will see the US Open Grand Slam covered by Eurosport’s Pay-TV network in France.
The partnership was engineered by agency giant IMG and it is a long-term extension that will see Eurosport cover Men’s as well as Women’s singles and doubles series. Wheelchair competitions will also be broadcasted as a part of the agreement on Eurosport’s linear channels and application.
The USTA is yet to tie down deals for broadcasting of the Grand Slam in Spain, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. It is understood that Sky Sports will be covering the US Open in the UK but partners for other European areas are yet to be finalized. Warner Bros Discovery is said to be in contention for bragging all the rights available in Spain, Italy, and Germany for the US Open before the event gets underway on August 28. Warner Bros has previously held the rights in these countries and so could strike an agreement with USTA as the build-up to the tournament ensues.
It was only last month that the USTA and Warner Bros agreed on a long-term extension of its European Rights deal that will see its course run until 2027, covering 45 territories. The deal though, excluded markets in Spain, Italy, Germany, and the UK. In France however, in addition to the US Open, Eurosport will also be providing coverage of the Australian Grand Slam, ATP Tour, and ATP finals.
