Fanatiz, a popular sports streaming service, has officially confirmed that they will broadcast Brasileirao matches during the 2024 season in the United States and Canada. This announcement comes after a period of uncertainty as the Brazilian top flight league began its current campaign without an agreement in place with broadcasters outside of Brazil.
The previous media distribution company, 1190 Sports, had licensed Brasileirao matches to Paramount+. Fanatiz also held American television rights to the Campeonato Brasileirao Serie A matches through to the end of 2023. As this year's campaign started without a deal in place, Fanatiz publicly expressed their willingness to agree on a deal with the Brazilian league.
Juan Pablo Buscaglione, Fanatiz’s general manager, thanked fans for their patience during negotiations and confirmed that South American soccer remains a key target for their company.
Over 300 matches set to stream on Fanatiz
In this new deal with Brasileirao, Fanatiz will broadcast over 340 total matches this year. However, not all clubs have agreed terms with the streaming service. Out of twenty teams participating in competition only eighteen have given permission for their home games to be available on Fanatiz. RB Bragantino and Corinthians matches are two notable exceptions whose home fixtures will not air on Fanatiz in 2024.
Juan Pablo Buscaglione, Fanatiz general manager, said:
“We are thrilled to bring back Brasileirao to Fanatiz, reaffirming our commitment to Brazilian soccer fans, with Brasileirao alongside Estaduais and top-tier international cups like Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana, we continue to be the premier destination for Brazilian soccer fans.”
“We want to thank our loyal followers for always choosing us. We will continue working to bring more Brazilian soccer and keep them informed about the latest news.”
Fans of these two sides can still catch them on road games via Fanatiz but would need alternative arrangements for home fixtures.
Commentary still a big question mark for US fans
While eager fans can look forward to live and on-demand recordings from one of South America's top leagues there is one caveat: feeds from these matches will not include commentary initially; viewers must settle for stadium noise instead. However, according to representatives from the streaming service this could change soon.
Fanatiz is also offering additional coverage of the Brasileirao, including instant highlights during games and postgame content. This extra content can be found on the Fanatiz app and their official YouTube channel. The streaming service offers a wide range of live soccer coverage, including channels like beIN SPORTS, TyC Sports, Real Madrid TV, and Sevilla TV.
The service is accessible on various devices such as Roku, Amazon FireTV, Apple TV, Chromecast and several smart TVs that include the Fanatiz app. Subscription plans start at $9.99 per month with a seven-day free trial available for new users.
The Brasileirao is one of the top soccer leagues in the Western Hemisphere with Palmeiras currently reigning as champions after narrowly edging out Gremio for the 2023 title. As this season unfolds with most clubs having played only three games so far this season it promises to be an exciting time for fans in North America who now have access to these matches via Fanatiz.
