Renowned singer-songwriter Shakira teased her new track "Dai Dai," the official anthem for this summer's World Cup tournament

Colombian pop sensation, Shakira, has recently revealed her official song for the much-anticipated 2026 World Cup. The announcement has stirred excitement among sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike, who are eagerly awaiting the tournament set to take place in the US, Mexico and Canada.

The 49-year-old singer-songwriter, renowned for chart-topping hits like "Whenever, Wherever" and "Hips Don't Lie," teased her new track "Dai Dai" on Thursday. This anthem is set to be a highlight of this summer's tournament.

Shakira took to Instagram to share a one-minute video from Brazil's Maracana stadium as a teaser for the upcoming track. Fans can look forward to its release on May 14th. Adding an international flair to the song is Nigerian singer Burna Boy who also features in it.

Shakira’s history with World Cup anthems

This isn't Shakira's first rodeo when it comes to creating anthems for global sporting events. In fact, this marks her second official World Cup anthem following "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" which was featured in the 2010 tournament held in South Africa.

In addition to that, she also had a theme song titled "La La La (Brazil 2014)" for the subsequent tournament held in Brazil four years later. Her performance at Rio de Janeiro during the closing ceremony was widely acclaimed by fans worldwide. Notably, Shakira also performed her hit single “Hips Don’t Lie” at the closing ceremony of Germany’s World Cup back in 2006.

Shakira’s connection with football extends beyond just providing anthems; she shares two sons with ex-Spain and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. Her home country, Colombia, is also set to participate in the 48-team tournament that will run from June 11 to July 19.

As sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts gear up for the World Cup 2026, Shakira's new anthem "Dai Dai" adds another layer of excitement to the event. With her history of successful World Cup anthems and personal ties with football, Shakira continues to bridge the gap between music and sports in a way that resonates with fans worldwide.
