Barcelona will establish their base at St George's Park for an estimated period of two weeks

Birmingham City, a renowned football club based in England, is all set to host the European giants, Barcelona this summer. This event forms part of the Spanish club's pre-season schedule and is sure to be an exciting spectacle for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike.

The team led by Hansi Flick will make St George’s Park their home base for approximately two weeks. Known as England national training centre, it will serve as the perfect location for the team to prepare for their upcoming matches. The arrival of the Spanish club at St George’s Park is scheduled for 27 July.

In addition to their match against Birmingham City, Barcelona also plans on playing two more friendlies after departing from England. These games are expected to take place in Nairobi, Kenya's capital city and Morocco respectively. However, details regarding these fixtures including dates and venues are yet-to-be confirmed.

Impact of World Cup on squad availability

With many Spanish internationals likely still enjoying their holidays post-World Cup depending on Spain's progress in the tournament, Barca’s squad availability may be limited during these friendlies. Despite this potential setback though, these fixtures will help offset any absence caused by a traditional pre-season tour not taking place.

The World Cup which spans from 11 June till 19 July across US, Mexico and Canada has influenced some clubs' decisions regarding pre-season tours. Many have opted for European tours instead of long-haul flights due to logistical reasons. Barcelona has also echoed similar sentiments stating that due to the World Cup it was not "technically and commercially feasible" for them organise a proper overseas tour this year. Despite such challenges though they are closing in on successive La Liga titles, demonstrating their resilience and adaptability.

The upcoming pre-season friendly between Birmingham City and Barcelona promises to be an exciting event for sports fans. While the World Cup may have caused some disruption in traditional pre-season plans, these matches offer a unique opportunity for teams to test their mettle against international competition. The exact date of the fixture against Birmingham is yet to be confirmed but anticipation is already building among fans and bettors alike.
