The Spanish tactician has confirmed the club is in talks with him for new deal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that discussions regarding his contract renewal are underway. The Spaniard, who is in the final year of his agreement with the three-time Premier League champions, has attracted attention from two of his former clubs due to his impressive work in North London.

Last season, Barcelona was heavily linked with a move for Arteta after Xavi announced he wanted to step down. However, the Arsenal boss dismissed rumours that he was ready to leave Arsenal for the Catalan giants as untrue. Barcelona eventually chose Hansi Flick as their new coach following a dramatic turn of events where Xavi reversed his decision only to be sacked weeks later.

Manchester City is believed to be considering Arteta as a potential successor for Pep Guardiola. Like his former student, Guardiola's contract also expires in 2025. There seems to be an increasing sentiment among Etihad chiefs that the 53-year-old will not renew his deal at the end of this season.

Contract renewal discussions underway

Speaking before Aston Villa match on Saturday, Arteta revealed that talks about renewing his own contract had been delayed due to focus on transfer window activities but assured fans that a renewal is being planned.

"Yes," said Arteta when asked if he could discuss a new contract from September onwards.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, said:

"The focus has been on the transfer window and we had quite a lot of things to do, to discuss. We are on it and we will take care of that at the right moment."

This statement should reassure both sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts about stability within Arsenal’s management team moving forward. Despite interest from other clubs like Barcelona and Manchester City, Mikel Arteta seems committed towards continuing with Arsenal beyond this season. The club and the manager are actively engaged in discussions about a new contract, ensuring that Arteta's future at Arsenal remains secure.
