Jeremy Doku is out for four weeks and is expected to return after international break

Manchester City's unbeaten run in the Premier League this season is set to face a significant challenge as they grapple with an escalating injury crisis. The club's manager, Pep Guardiola, has confirmed that Belgian international Jeremy Doku will be sidelined until after the November international break.

The last remaining unbeaten team in the Premier League table at this stage of the season is now facing a crucial test of their trophy-winning credentials. This comes at a time when their playing squad is expected to stretch even further before the next pause for national team duties.

Their final home game before Tottenham's visit on November 23rd will be against Southampton on Saturday afternoon. This match precedes four consecutive away fixtures leading up to the November international break.

Series of unfortunate injuries

In what could arguably be considered as happening at the worst possible time, Manchester City has been hit with three new injuries since October’s break ended. Kyle Walker sustained a knee problem while representing England, adding to Kevin De Bruyne’s ongoing absence despite training with the first-team squad.

Further blows have been dealt to Manchester City’s left side of their attacking line, with both Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish missing out on midweek action against Sparta Prague due to injuries.

During his pre-match press conference ahead of Southampton match, Guardiola provided more clarity around Grealish and Doku’s respective return timelines from injury. He revealed that Grealish sustained his problem during his first training session after last Sunday's 1-2 win over Wolves while Doku picked up his injury during that same clash at Molineux.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, said:

“Jack (Grealish), yeah, I hope so. But Jeremy (Doku) I don’t think so.”

Impact on upcoming matches

Doku's injury means he is likely miss four additional matches. His total period off due to injury will amount to four weeks, during which he will miss away trips to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup fourth round and Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League.

A Premier League double-header away to Bournemouth and Brighton on the south coast is also likely to be played without Doku's availability. In response, Guardiola may have to call upon other options, including Matheus Nunes.

This injury crisis presents a significant challenge for Manchester City as they strive to maintain their unbeaten run. The team's depth will be tested over the coming weeks as they navigate through this difficult period. Fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike will be keenly watching how Guardiola manages his squad amidst these setbacks.
