The planned memorial showcases a detailed heart design, representing Jota's iconic goal celebration

Liverpool Football Club has released images of a planned memorial dedicated to the late forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. The memorial is a tribute to the two brothers who tragically lost their lives in a car crash last summer.

Diogo Jota, aged 28, and his younger brother Andre Silva, 25, met with an untimely death on July 3rd in the Spanish province of Zamora. While Jota was known for his contributions to Liverpool FC, Silva was recognized as a player for Penafiel, a Portuguese second division club.

The proposed memorial features an intricate heart design that symbolizes Jota's signature goal celebration. It also includes the shirt numbers of both brothers - 20 and 30 - along with lyrics from Jota's song which is traditionally sung by Liverpool fans during the 20th minute at every game.

'Forever 20' – celebrating lives & bonds

Titled 'Forever 20', this initiative by Liverpool FC aims not only to commemorate the lives of these two players but also their bond as siblings. The club stated that it represents "the love and respect felt by family, team-mates and supporters across the world".

The location chosen for this monument is Anfield’s iconic ’97 Avenue’. In an effort to make it more personal and heartfelt, physical tributes left outside Anfield by mourning fans have been incorporated into its stone plinth. Although no official date has been announced yet for its unveiling, Liverpool FC assures that they will reveal it in due course.

Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves back in 2020. During his tenure at Merseyside he made quite an impact scoring an impressive total of 65 goals over just182 appearances. His contributions were instrumental in leading the Reds towards victory multiple times, including winning the Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cups. This memorial serves as a testament to Jota's legacy at Liverpool FC and his brother Andre Silva's promising career. It stands as a symbol of their lives, their bond, and the profound impact they had on football fans around the world.
