Fabio Carvalho, the young forward who has been making waves in the football world, has made a bold claim about his preferred position on the field. The 21-year-old player is keen to play in a central role for Liverpool as he plots his path into Arne Slot's starting XI for the 2024/25 season.
Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham back in 2022 and managed to score two Premier League goals during his first campaign with the club. However, he was sent on loan spells at RB Leipzig and Hull City throughout 2023/24.
Finding success on loan
While Carvalho had some success with RB Leipzig and Hull City, it was clear that he found more comfort playing in the Championship matches than he did in Bundesliga matches. He bagged an impressive nine strikes in just 20 matches during this period.
Despite being often utilised on the wing, Carvalho has now revealed that he wants to feature more centrally moving forward. This revelation came during Liverpool's pre-season tour where Carvalho expressed his aspirations for securing a key position within Arne Slot's team.
Fabio Carvalho, Liverpool player, said:
"We spoke about [my position] and he told me to try and settle on the wing but obviously I know where I play best and I feel that is as a number 10. I'm just going to do what he wants me to do and just work as hard as I can for him. He's giving me good instructions and motivating me a lot in training and giving me that confidence. We’ve had a few conversations which I'm not going to go into detail about but he wants me to get my head down and work hard and see where that goes."
"It was crucial, I needed game time and I was happy when I was playing. Every footballer wants to be playing week in and week out and I feel I got the best of myself when I was there and playing. That's what it is all about. Not just for me but for everyone involved. There's good chances for the young players, for myself as well. It's a good chance for everyone to put their foot down and stamp their mark."
Winning over Jurgen Klopp’s successor
The upcoming season presents an opportunity for Carvalho to win over Jurgen Klopp's successor ahead of new challenges. His performance will be closely watched by fans and critics alike as they anticipate whether or not this young talent can secure his place within one of England’s top football clubs.
Liverpool fans can expect to see more of Fabio Carvahlo as there are several friendlies lined up against Arsenal, Manchester United and Sevilla where he will get chances to lay down a marker. In their last match against Real Betis, Dominik Szoboszlai scored enough goals to earn them a victory.
Fabio Carvalho's bold claim of wanting to play in a central role for Liverpool is an exciting prospect for both sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts. His performance in the upcoming season will be crucial in determining his future with the club. With his proven track record on loan and his clear ambition, Carvalho is definitely one to watch out for in the 2024/25 season.
