Under the deal, DAZN will solely broadcast all 104 World Cup matches via Mediapro’s Spanish pay-TV channel

DAZN, the international sports streaming platform, has acquired pay-TV rights to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Spain. This acquisition was made possible through a distribution deal with sports agency Mediapro.

Under this agreement, DAZN will exclusively distribute Mediapro’s Spanish pay-television channel for the World Cup, broadcasting all 104 matches. This move comes after Mediapro secured the pay-TV rights to the World Cup in March 2025. Meanwhile, RTVE, a Spanish public-service broadcaster, obtained the free-to-air package.

In September of that year, an agreement was reached between RTVE and Mediapro for acquiring pay-TV rights to cover all games of the 2026 World Cup. Consequently, this deal granted exclusive rights to broadcast 71 out of 104 games to Mediapro while providing non-exclusive coverage for remaining 33 matches.

Dedicated streaming channel

Like its predecessor event in 2022, these broadcasting rights will be distributed via a dedicated streaming channel called Gol Mundial which operates round-the-clock and is now available on DAZN under a sub-licensing agreement. This partnership with Mediapro marks DAZN's first venture into broadcasting a FIFA World Cup event. The platform plans on providing live and on-demand coverage including matches featuring Spain's national team who are among top contenders for winning this prestigious competition.

The upcoming edition of FIFA's showpiece tournament is scheduled from June 11th till July19th across sixteen stadiums spanning United States, Canada and Mexico. For the first time ever it will feature an expanded roster comprising forty-eight teams instead of usual thirty-two participants.

This collaboration further strengthens DAZN's soccer portfolio in Spain, which already includes domestic top-flight LaLiga, England’s Premier League, Italy’s Serie A and the German Bundesliga. Moreover, the OTT platform has also entered into a strategic partnership with FIFA that will see a global relaunch of the FIFA+ streaming service this year. This move is expected to further enhance DAZN's standing as a leading sports streaming platform and provide sports fans with an unparalleled viewing experience.
