FIFA, has announced a strategic partnership with international streaming service DAZN. This collaboration is set to revamp the in-house content and broadcasting platform, FIFA+, which will be relaunched in 2026 as the 'global home of football'.
The new platform aims to deliver a personalized experience for soccer fans worldwide. It will feature live and on-demand matches, highlights, behind-the-scenes features, and a multi-channel news service offered in multiple languages.
FIFA+ will be available as a freemium basic version with an option for fans to purchase additional premium content. The platform's goal is to leverage DAZN's global reach and technological expertise along with its powerful marketing capacity, extensive rights portfolio, and distribution network.
Covering over 100 leagues
The revamped FIFA+ plans to cover over 100 men's and women's leagues along with national teams. Initially launched in April 2022, the platform was designed to offer fans live games from soccer competitions worldwide. It also provided access to archive highlights from the FIFA World Cup alongside full-game replays and feature-length programming.
Mattias Grafstrom, secretary general at FIFA, said:
"In a short period of time, the partnership between FIFA and DAZN has proven to be a remarkably successful one, as witnessed through the record-breaking FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the United States earlier this year."
In April this year, there was an expansion of ties between FIFA and Infront sports marketing agency. As part of this deal enhancement process, Infront Productions now provides satellite downlinking services along with multi-lingual commentary services plus SRT (secure reliable transport) distribution for over 300 matches on FIFA+. Moreover last month saw another significant development when a distribution deal covering FIFA+ was struck with streaming platform aggregator ScreenHits TV.
Timed with Men’s World Cup
The relaunch of the new-and-improved version of the platform is strategically timed around next year’s men’s 2026 World Cup. The tournament is set to be held across Mexico, the US, and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
DAZN has already secured global broadcast rights for the Club World Cup through a deal struck in late 2024. This move further solidifies DAZN's position as a key player in international sports broadcasting.
The relaunch of FIFA+ promises an enhanced viewing experience for soccer fans worldwide. With its extensive coverage of leagues and teams, personalized content offerings, and strategic partnerships with DAZN and other entities like Infront Productions and ScreenHits TV, FIFA+ is poised to become a go-to platform for all things football come 2026.
