In a surprising turn of events, one Tottenham Hotspur star is rumoured to be considering a move away from the club. The player in question, Richarlison, has reportedly given his approval for a potential transfer during the upcoming January window.
The 25/26 campaign has seen Tottenham Hotspur off to a fairly decent start under new boss Thomas Frank. Currently sitting third in the Premier League table with 17 points collected from nine matches, they are however five points behind league leaders and bitter rivals Arsenal.
Spurs have also made an acceptable start to their UEFA Champions League journey this season. They've managed to secure one win and two draws from their opening three matches.
Potential departure of Richarlison
Despite these promising beginnings, it's been reported that current Spurs star Richarlison could potentially leave the club during the winter transfer window. According to Sport Witness journalist Fabricio Lopes, Brazilian Serie A side Flamengo has expressed interest in signing Richarlison if he decides to exit European football.
Richarlison, aged 28 years old, is said to have already given Flamengo his approval for this move. However, securing him won't come cheaply for Flamengo as he remains under contract with Spurs until 2027.
Transfer fee hurdles
Transfermarkt estimates that forward player's market value stands at around €25 million currently. If Flamengo agrees on this fee it would make it one of the most expensive signings in Brazilian football history.
Richarlison's performance so far in the ongoing season might justify such high valuation though. He has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Spurs during this campaign and contributed significantly by scoring three goals and assisting two more.
