Mikel Arteta reportedly sees Sesko as Arsenal’s solution to goalscoring woes

Benjamin Sesko, the long-term target of Arsenal, has been in the spotlight recently due to ongoing transfer speculation. Despite signing a contract extension with RB Leipzig last summer, rumors about his future continue to circulate. His agent Elvis Basanovic has finally broken his silence on these speculations.

In an interview with Slovenian TV channel Arena Sport, Basanovic addressed the rumors surrounding Sesko's potential move to Arsenal. He made it clear that a transfer during this window is unlikely while praising Sesko's versatility as a player.

"I think you should ask Mr. Arteta about that," he said when asked about the possibility of a move. "But I think Sesko could suit many clubs because he has different football skills. He can play alone in attack, with two strikers, a little further back; he has height, speed, technical speed."

However, when pressed for more information regarding any contact from Arsenal directly, Basanovic remained tight-lipped: "I can't answer that question for you."

Contractual obligations and future prospects

Sesko is currently tied down by RB Leipzig under a contract that extends until 2029 and notably lacks any release clause. This contractual obligation adds another layer of complexity to any potential transfer discussions. Despite their continued interest in him as an asset for their team formation strategy moving forward into future seasons - Gunners reportedly believes that acquiring him right now might not be feasible and are thus exploring alternative options. Basanovic also reflected on his client’s future prospects within professional football during the interview.

Elvis Basanovic, Benjamin Sesko agent, said:

"Benjamin Sesko is really shining, I think this is a phase of development. I think we have already shown in the past that we are sticking to the development path, that we are not looking at current form. Our decision regarding the next step, the transfer, has never and will not stem from current form, but from who can offer Sesko the best platform for his development."

This statement suggests that both player and agent are considering long-term career development over immediate transfers or short-term gains – something which was evident when they decided against transferring to the Premier League before Euro 2024, despite Arsenal's keen interest.

The future of Benjamin Sesko remains uncertain amid ongoing transfer speculation. While his agent has clarified that a move is unlikely in this transfer window, it's clear that any future decisions will be made with Sesko's long-term career growth in mind. As for Arsenal, they may need to look elsewhere for now but could potentially revisit their interest in Sesko when the time is right.
