The Dutch talent is reportedly all set to leave Paris Saint Germain

Xavi Simons, the 21-year-old football sensation, has recently addressed the transfer rumours linking him with Premier League clubs Manchester United and Arsenal. Despite being content at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), he plans to make a decision about his future after the Netherlands' Euro 2024 campaign.

Simons is a product of Barcelona's academy who made a significant move to PSG in 2021. He then returned to his native Netherlands, joining PSV Eindhoven where he had an exceptional run during the 2022/23 campaign. His performance was remarkable, scoring 22 goals which caught everyone's attention.

His impressive form led PSG to trigger a £ 5 million buyback clause in his PSV contract. Subsequently, he was loaned out immediately to RB Leipzig where he continued his excellent form by contributing eight goals and eleven assists in Bundesliga matches last season.

Many big names after Simons

Despite these achievements, Simons' future remains uncertain as he is yet to establish himself at PSG. Speculation has been rife that he could be set for a big-money move away from Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window.

Xavi Simons, PSG player, said:

‘My future? I don’t know yet. I’m here, happy, with my national team,’ Simons said when quizzed on his situation in the wake of the Netherlands’ goalless draw with France at Euro 2024.

‘We’ll see after the Euros what happens. Do I want to return to Paris? I was happy in Paris, things happened. I was at Leipzig this season. After the Euros, we’ll see. I also see that the fans always wish me the best, and that’s good.’

Arsenal have long shown interest in this young talent while recent reports suggest that Manchester United have also joined their Premier League rivals in pursuing Simons' signature. Other clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping tabs on him as well.

Simons is currently tied into a contract with PSG until 2027 but reports from France earlier this month indicated that 'nothing has been decided' between Simons and PSG regarding his future at the club. The most likely scenario seems another loan deal this summer.

The Dutch international is reportedly valued at around €60million (£51m) by PSG bosses which indicates how highly they regard him despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Sidestepping rumours

When asked about Simons' situation at a press conference last month, Luis Enrique, the Paris Saint Germain manager, did his best to sidestep rumours over Simons’ future. This further adds to the suspense and intrigue surrounding this young player's career trajectory.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager, said:

‘I have a rule not to talk about players who are not at the club at the moment, who are elsewhere,’

‘This is a player on loan who I already commented on at the time. I have nothing new to say at the moment.’

Xavi Simons is undoubtedly one of the most promising young talents in football today. His decision post-Euro 2024 will be eagerly awaited by sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike as it could significantly impact not only his career but also reshape the dynamics of whichever club he chooses to join next.
