Preview: Man City vs RB Leipzig

When Riyad Mahrez gave his side the lead midway through the first half, it looked as though Manchester City would cruise to a comfortable victory in Germany. However, Josko Gvardiol’s second-half equaliser handed RB Leipzig a lifeline.

Guardiola’s men dominated the first leg, racking up 62% possession and 12 shots. Still, the Red Bulls managed to weather the storm and come away with a vital draw.

Man City have notched four consecutive wins since the first leg, reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup while keeping pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal. It is also worth noting that City head into the second leg on the back of three straight clean sheets.

When you look at the bigger picture, Man City have avoided defeat in each of their last eight matches, with a solitary loss coming in their previous 12 outings.

As for RB Leipzig, they have taken six points from a possible nine since the first leg, cementing third place in the Bundesliga standings while remaining seven points behind table-topping Bayern Munich.

Having lost just two of their past 24 games in all competitions, Leipzig will fancy their chances of causing an upset at the Etihad. That said, they are likely to struggle without key injury absentees such as Christopher Nkunku and Peter Gulacsi.

Manchester City vs RB Leipzig prediction

With the seemingly unstoppable Erling Haaland leading the way, Manchester City look set to book their place in the quarter-finals with a comfortable victory over RB Leipzig.

When Leipzig made the trip to the Etihad Stadium back in 2021, Guardiola’s men thrashed the visitors 6-3. While we don’t expect a repeat of that scoreline, we are confident that Man City will get the job done on Tuesday.
