Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and global sports streaming platform DAZN have secured co-exclusive rights to broadcast the prestigious English soccer's FA Cup knockout competition in Italy until 2028. This deal will provide live coverage of over 70 matches this season, featuring several Italian internationals.
The three-year deals were brokered by Pitch International, a UK-based sports marketing agency that sells global rights to the FA Cup on behalf of the English Football Association. The iconic competition will be broadcast co-exclusively on Eurosport, a pan-European sports broadcaster owned by WBD, and DAZN from this season until the 2027–28 campaign.
This new agreement strengthens and extends the existing partnership between WBD and DAZN, which was recently renewed. As part of their carriage agreement, Warner Bros. Discovery entertainment content will soon be available on DAZN alongside the full Eurosport offering.
Alessandro Araimo, CEO Warner Bros. Discovery Italy & Iberia, said:
“Sport represents one of the strategic assets of our group. The partnership with DAZN marks another important step forward.”
Italian internationals featured in FA Cup
Several Italian internationals are set to feature prominently in this year's FA Cup including Gianluigi Donnarumma (Manchester City), Sandro Tonali (Newcastle United), Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal), Federico Chiesa (Liverpool), Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham Hotspur), and Wilfried Gnonto (Leeds United). This is expected to boost viewership among Italian fans who can now follow their favorite players' performances closely.
In addition to securing broadcasting rights in Italy, DAZN has also secured rights for the FA Cup matches in Germany for the next three seasons. This move is part of DAZN's broader strategy to expand its sports content offering across Europe.
Furthermore, M Plus, a live sports streaming platform in Macau, acquired exclusive rights to broadcast the FA Cup through the 2027-28 season. Domestically, TNT Sports (a pay-TV platform in the UK owned by WBD) will share live FA Cup rights from this season through 2028-29 with BBC, a public-service broadcaster.
