NFL legend and Birmingham City owner gets a dose of British banter at huge League One clash on Monday night

Tom Brady may be a household name in the United States but the Welsh contingent at St. Andrews for Birmingham City's encounter with Wrexham were seemingly unsure of who he was.

The 7-time Superbowl champion and 5-time Superbowl MVP is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in NFL history, but according to some video from Monday's game, he isn't quite so famous on the other side of the pond.

Tom Brady owns a stake in League One side Birmingham City and was in attendance for an early season six-pointer against Wrexham. He watched on alongside  A-list celebrity pals like Inter Miami owner David Beckham, as his team emerged 3-1 victors, courtesy in part of a Jay Stansfield double.

As he made his way around the pitch and waved at visiting fans in the stand, he was greeted with the popular British football chant "Who the f**king h*ll are you?!", no doubt a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that Wrexham fans believe their own Hollywood owners to be bigger stars than Brady.

The American seemed to be confused as he looked at the hordes of Wrexham fans chanting expletives and pointing at him.

Birmingham have made headlines this summer for their outrageous spending. Despite having been relegated to League One, The Blues have spent ungodly sums of money, including splashing £10m to bring back striker Stansfield, who scored his first goal of the season on Monday night.

Their opponents Wrexham are far from shy when it comes to spending big themselves. Their Hollywood owners, Rob McElhenney, who watched from the stands at St. Andrews, and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, have pumped millions into the Welsh club propelling them to back-to-back promotions from the National League into League One.

Many see Wrexham as having a legitimate chance of making history this season by achieving a thrid-successive promotion into the EFL Championship, and with Birmingham City being many people's favourites to win the title, this game was seen as an opportunity for either side to make a statement.

The hosts did so in the end, with Stansfield's double and a goal from Tomoki Iwata cancelling out Jack Marriot's early strike for the visitors.

The game was broadcast live on Sky Sports and likely attracted huge viewership, largely due to the presence of the celebrity owners in the stands, with the 'Hollywood Derby' being easily one of the most highly-anticipated League One fixtures of the season so far.

Despite the pre-game banter from the Wrexham fans, Brady ultimately had the last laugh as his team took all three points.

The two teams are now neck-and-neck at the top of the League One table, with Wrexham ahead on goal difference. The Blues have a game in hand on their Welsh counterparts.

This rivalry should be very fun to watch this season with both teams desperate to secure automatic promotion.
