Henry picked Arsenal as his first, second, and third favourite club

Football legend Thierry Henry has recently made headlines by declaring his unwavering loyalty to Arsenal, naming the club as his favourite club. This comes despite having had successful spells with other renowned clubs such as AS Monaco and FC Barcelona.

CBS Sports humorously dubbed Arsenal’s midweek clash with AS Monaco as the “Thierry Henry derby”. This was a nod to the fact that the French striker had represented both teams on the pitch during his illustrious career. However, when asked about which of these two teams held a special place in his heart, Henry gave an answer that left no room for doubt.

Thierry Henry, Arsenal legend, said:

“Monaco gave me an opportunity…to become what I became, and then obviously they gave me an opportunity as a coach. So I have mad respect for Monaco and that’s always going to be the case. But Arsenal is where my heart is. And that will never change.”

Diplomatic but emphatic answer

Henry's response was diplomatic yet emphatic. When questioned whether Monaco or Barcelona would be considered his “number two” team after Arsenal.

Thierry Henry added:

“Number two? Arsenal. Three? Arsenal."

“In Spain, [it’s] Barcelona. Monaco will always be my team in France. But Arsenal is Arsenal.”

Strong connection with Gunners

Henry spent five years with Monaco as a senior player and three years with Barcelona. However, it was at north London's Emirates Stadium where he truly made a name for himself. He spent eight glorious years with the Gunners - matching the combined time he spent at Monaco and Barcelona - becoming Arsenal’s record goalscorer in the process. Given this impressive tenure and remarkable achievement at Arsenal, it is perhaps unsurprising that this is where he feels most connected.

While Thierry Henry has played for several top-tier football clubs throughout his career including AS Monaco and FC Barcelona; it is clear that none have captured his heart quite like Arsenal has done so far.

His declaration of loyalty towards The Gunners serves not only as an affirmation of their significance in shaping him into one of football's greatest players, but also as a testament to the deep-seated connection he has with the club and its fans. This is a sentiment that will undoubtedly resonate with sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike, who understand the profound bond that can develop between an athlete and their team.
