Tottenham Hotspur, the renowned north London club, has reportedly decided that one of its first-team stars will be leaving this summer. This decision holds irrespective of whether the team faces relegation or not, as per Sports Boom.
The Spurs recently managed to climb out of the relegation zone following a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. This win moved them one point above West Ham with just three games remaining in the campaign. Roberto De Zerbi, their manager, has been instrumental in securing consecutive wins in his last two games.
However, despite their Premier League future being uncertain and unclear at this point, De Zerbi has already made plans for post-summer changes within his squad.
Radu Dragusin's future at Spurs
Radu Dragusin is reportedly the player who has been informed about his impending exit from Tottenham Hotspur. The Romanian international centre-back is known for his exceptional speed on field but unfortunately found himself as fourth-choice centre-back behind Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven and Kevin Danso after recovering from a serious knee injury this season. Dragusin's only appearance under De Zerbi was as an injury-time substitute during a 1-0 win against Wolves. It seems that he will now be allowed to move on with an asking price set at £17.2m ahead of the transfer window opening.
Recent reports suggest that Dragusin's agent is currently in London for transfer talks scheduled this week regarding his client’s future with other clubs showing interest. Clubs from Italy and Germany are understood to have shown keen interest in acquiring the 24-year-old player who wishes for regular playtime on field. This move appears increasingly likely given that it aligns well with De Zerbi's plans for a significant summer overhaul of the team.
Dragusin's transfer seems to be a beneficial move for all parties involved. When he first joined the club under Ange Postecoglou, his physical profile was well-suited to their style of football and he seemed an ideal cover for Van de Ven and Romero. However, post his knee injury, Dragusin's performance quality has seemingly declined.
With Tottenham likely to strengthen their defence this summer and potential moves away for Van de Ven and Romero, Dragusin would find himself further from a starting spot at the club. His transfer would not only allow him regular playtime but also enable Tottenham to part ways with an unhappy player while securing some cash that could be reinvested in new players as per De Zerbi’s preference.
