AEW Collision a step forward to extend their deal with Warner Brothers

AEW's Collision show has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced by Tony Khan. Premiering on June 17th, the show saw the return of superstars such as CM Punk.

With the arrival of Collision, AEW's weekly television footprint will expand to five hours. The third AEW TV show, Collision, is expected to be the key to securing a new Warner Bros. deal.

Since its maiden flight in 2019, AEW, which is like a baby to Shahid Khan and Tony Khan, has climbed to become the second biggest wrestling company in the country after WWE.

Tony Khan, President of All Elite Wrestling recently spoke to the media about AEW plans:

“I want to take some of the great things we developed — that are part of the working formula — but I also want to create a distinct show with a distinct identity,”

In a recent interview, AEW CEO Tony Khan described how Warner Bros. Discovery pitched collision and how it is slated for a major negotiation toward the end of this year or the start of next year.

Depending on where a company stands at that point will determine the interest level it receives from buyers, which in turn determines the company's finances for the next four to five years.

After weeks of rumors, it was officially announced on May 17 at Warner Bros. Discovery announced that AEW's newest live two-hour program "AEW Collision" will premiere on TNT on Saturday, June 17, at 8 p.m. ET.

There will be a tough sell for AEW Collision on Saturday nights, where it will compete with major sports leagues and college leagues each week, but with the smooth start it had on its maiden day it seems to give tough competition.

With 816,000 viewers viewing the debut of Collision that day, CM Punk's return after a nine-month hiatus proved to be an important selling point for the show.

"One Bill Phil" returned and Collision finished third on cable. These numbers and early reports were crucial to the company's upcoming television negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery.

A source within Warner Bros says they are "thrilled" and believe Tony Khan has a great vision for this series.

Next week's episode is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. central on 24th June. Based on this episode's viewership, the show could be judged to have achieved real success.

So set your schedules to watch major to mark this moment in time. Don't miss it!
