Sport 24, the in-flight and on-ship entertainment service owned by international sports agency IMG, has secured a deal to broadcast the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup (CWC). The agreement is part of an extensive addition to Sport 24's soccer rights portfolio.
The deal will see Sport 24 cover over 55 and provide more than 115 hours of coverage from the CWC. The tournament, which features a total of 63 games, will take place across twelve US venues between June 14 and July 13. This coverage is made possible through a sub-licensing agreement between IMG and DAZN, the global sports streaming service that holds worldwide CWC rights.
Sport 24's coverage extends across various airlines and cruise lines that offer it as an entertainment option. These include Etihad Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific among others. On the cruise line front are Carnival Group, Royal Caribbean Celebrity Norwegian Cruise Line and Fred Olsen. This development follows closely on the heels of another recent agreement for Sport 24 to cover the upcoming UEFA Women's European Championships national team soccer tournament set to take place in Switzerland in July.
Additional live sports coverage
In addition to football tournaments like CWC or UEFA Women's European Championships, other live sport events slated for broadcast by Sport 24 over coming months include tennis' Wimbledon grand slam from London; golf's The Open; as well as motor racing’s iconic Formula1.
The channel operates out of IMG studio facilities located near London UK. Earlier this year in March, Sport added yet another feather to its cap by acquiring broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup marking it as fourth consecutive World Cup aired by their service.
This year's Club World Cup has undergone a significant revamp, with the number of participating teams increasing from less than ten in previous editions to 32. The new format will be implemented once every four years.
DAZN's growing sub-licensing deals
DAZN has been actively expanding its sub-licensing deals in recent weeks and months. The agreement with Sport 24 is just one of many such partnerships that have been unveiled, demonstrating DAZN's commitment to broadening access to sports content worldwide.
While deal between Sport 24 and DAZN promises an exciting time for sports fans and sports betting fans alike, offering them extensive coverage of the FIFA Club World Cup on various airlines and cruise lines.
