Kitman Labs already works with top-flight clubs Chelsea and Aston Villa

The Premier League has announced a strategic partnership with Kitman Labs, a leading sports-focused technology and data analytics firm. This collaboration aims to enhance the development of youth talent from English clubs’ youth academies by providing a centralized data platform.

Kitman Labs has a proven track record of partnerships with elite-level sporting institutions, both in football and other sports. The firm already collaborates with Premier League sides Chelsea and Aston Villa, as well as top-tier teams in Germany (Bayer Leverkusen), Denmark (FC Midtjylland), and the United States (Columbus Crew and Toronto FC).

In addition, Kitman Labs has worked with several rugby teams, including South Africa Rugby and the English Rugby Union.

Tony Scholes, chief football officer at the Premier League, said:

“The EPPP aims to create unrivalled development environments where every young person is supported to maximize their potential on and off the pitch.

“This partnership represents a significant development in how clubs and the Premier League can use data to support elite player development and personal growth across all club academies. Through this first-of-its-kind strategic partnership, we and our clubs will have access to world-leading technology and support, equipping us with the tools and knowledge to help the development of players.”

The football intelligence platform

Under the new partnership, Kitman Labs will provide the academies of all clubs in the Premier League and the three lower-tier English Football League competitions with a centralized data platform. This football intelligence platform will collect and collate data from every facet of a football club’s operation into one place that is accessible in real time.

The platform will gather a wide range of data, including:

  • Player statistics
  • Injury numbers
  • Coaching metrics

This comprehensive data collection will provide a holistic view of a club's operations, from the top level to the individual player level, thereby aiding in the development of youth talent.

The Premier League's string of partnerships

This partnership with Kitman Labs is the latest in a series of collaborations for the PL. Most recently, the league partnered with international sports data and technology company Genius Sports. This partnership aimed to enhance live broadcasts with in-game statistics through the PL’s in-house media arm.

The Premier League's partnership with Kitman Labs signifies a significant step towards leveraging technology and data analytics in sports. By providing a centralized platform for data collection and analysis, this partnership aims to enhance the development of youth talent in English football.

This move is likely to be closely watched by Premier League fans, as it could potentially influence team strategies and player performance in the future.
