NBC's NFL, NBA, and English Premier League will now feature alongside Amazon's own sports coverage

In a significant development for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts, NBCUniversal and Amazon have struck a distribution deal to bring Peacock to Prime Video. This move strengthens the ties between two of the most prominent streaming services that are leveraging sport to win market share.

Peacock will be available as an add-on subscription, with all content accessible directly within the Prime Video application. This means key NBC Sports properties such as the National Football League’s (NFL) Sunday Night Football, National Basketball Association (NBA), and Premier League soccer will appear directly alongside Amazon’s own NFL and NBA coverage.

The carriage deal forms part of a broader partnership extension between Amazon and NBC's parent Comcast. As part of this agreement, Prime Video will continue to be available on Comcast's Xfinity pay-TV platform while Peacock will be accessible on Fire TV devices.

Additionally, Universal films will also become available for purchase or rent on Prime Video under this new arrangement.

Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said:

“At Amazon, we are always working to make customers’ lives better every day and these new agreements with Comcast NBCU are fantastic for millions of customers, who are looking for the fastest and easiest way to find all their entertainment and sports in one place,”

“Adding Peacock to our growing list of subscriptions—while renewing our long-standing agreements for Fire TV, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, and Xfinity X1—deepens an incredible working relationship with Comcast/NBCU, and we look forward to a future of mutual distribution that benefits our shared customers.”

Win-Win situation for fans

This partnership is particularly beneficial for sports fans who can now enjoy their favorite games from both broadcasters in one place - whether it's NFL or NBA games from NBC or Amazon. The integration provides seamless access to high-quality sports content without having to switch between different platforms.

Amazon has been expanding its 'Channels' platform by offering several third-party streaming services including notable sports platforms like Apple TV+, DAZN, and Paramount+. With the addition of Peacock into its fold, it further enhances its offerings making it an even more attractive destination for sports lovers across America.

In conclusion, this strategic partnership between NBCUniversal and Amazon not only strengthens their respective positions in the competitive streaming market but also offers enhanced viewing experiences for millions of American sports fans. The deal signifies a win-win situation for both broadcasters and viewers alike, promising an exciting future for sports streaming in the US.
