The former Manchester United defender's network generated 2.2 billion YouTube views in 2025 alone

Gary Neville's media company Buzz 16 has posted £11.6 million in revenue in its most recently published annual accounts, with the figures confirming the accelerating commercial growth of The Overlap network as it continues to close the gap on Gary Lineker's Goalhanger Podcasts in the British football media landscape.

The numbers are built primarily around The Overlap's flagship Stick To Football podcast, which attracts 38 million YouTube views per month and features regular contributions from Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Jill Scott. Across all platforms and formats, The Overlap generated a total of 2.2 billion YouTube views throughout 2025.

This week's seven-figure acquisition of Mark Goldbridge's YouTube channels — The United Stand and That's Football, which carry a combined 3.7 million subscribers — marks the most significant expansion move since Global Media & Entertainment acquired a majority stake in The Overlap earlier this year. Neville, who remained as co-chair and executive director, has been given a specific brief to identify acquisition targets and grow the network's overall reach.

Two new formats will launch as part of the deal: Stick To United, built around former players and journalists, and The Daily United, a dedicated news platform for Manchester United supporters.

The gap to Lineker remains significant

Lineker's Goalhanger Podcasts posted revenues approaching £37.7 million in 2025, representing an 80 per cent year-on-year increase, with analysts placing a potential valuation of up to £100 million on the business following The Chernin Group's minority stake acquisition. Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Paddy McGuinness and Rio Ferdinand have also entered the former-footballer content space, making the market more competitive than at any previous point.

Whether it's The Overlap with its diverse range of sports shows or Goalhanger with its popular podcasts and cult titles, both stables offer rich content for sports fans and betting enthusiasts. As these media empires continue to grow and evolve, audiences can look forward to more engaging content that fuels their passion for sports.
