Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim, has brushed off claims made by Naottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche that he would have had a more successful tenure at the helm of Manchester United. The two are set to face each other in an upcoming match.
Amorim found humor in Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche’s assertion that he would have won more matches as Manchester United manager. This comes as they prepare for a head-to-head encounter.
Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, said:
“First of all, maybe it’s true if we play 4-4-2 we won more games. But I always said that I have a way of playing that is going to take a while and then in the future it’s going to be better, so we don’t know that.
“Then I can look at Sean Dyche as a manager and then as a pundit. If you are a pundit and you don’t say very strong things, I don’t want to watch you! I’m the same.“So, I can understand that it’s a completely different job and I know that Sean Dyche is really smart, and he knows how to play the game.”
The upcoming Premier League fixture at City Ground coincides with the one-year anniversary of Amorim’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s successor at Manchester United.
Rocky start for Amorim
Amorim faced challenges during his initial phase at Old Trafford. Despite high expectations, he was unable to bring about an immediate upturn in fortunes as United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final. This led to widespread criticism from fans and pundits alike.
Dyche was among those who criticized Amorim's approach, suggesting back in May that he could win more matches if he were managing by employing a traditional 4-4-2 formation. However, ahead of their meeting on Saturday, Amorim shrugged off these remarks from his counterpart at Nottingham Forest.
