In a significant win for the fans, Liverpool Football Club has announced that they will freeze ticket prices for the upcoming 2025-26 season. This decision comes as a huge relief to supporters who had previously protested against ticket price hikes.
The club confirmed that there would be no increase in the cost of season or general admission tickets. The most expensive season ticket at Anfield will remain at £904, while the cheapest adult one is priced at £713. As far as general admission tickets are concerned, they range from £61 to £30 for Premier League games with junior tickets available at just £9.
This decision was made following meaningful engagement discussions with its official Supporters Board on ticket prices. The club expressed gratitude towards their supporters board for their important and significant contribution to these discussions.
Liverpool released statement:
“The club held meaningful engagement discussions with its official Supporters Board on ticket prices and is grateful for their important and significant contribution to those discussions.
“As well as adult prices remaining the same, junior tickets will also continue to be frozen at £9 for the tenth season in a row, and are the same price as local tickets, which have been available to those with a Liverpool postcode since the 2016-17 season. The latest price freeze comes despite significant increases in Anfield matchday operating costs and continued rises in the cost of football operations in general.”
Fan protests against rising ticket prices
The move follows fan protests against rising ticket prices last season. There were no supportive flags or banners on display during a Europa League match with Atalanta last April, indicating fans' displeasure over increased costs.
Earlier this season, Liverpool fans joined forces with rival supporters from clubs like Everton and Manchester United to express their discontent over escalating ticket prices across English football.
Upcoming changes in ticket purchasing process
In addition to freezing its ticket prices, Liverpool FC also plans to explore changes in its current process of purchasing tickets after conducting a survey among fans. While details about these potential changes have not been disclosed yet, it's clear that the club is taking steps towards improving fan experience and making football more accessible and affordable.
Liverpool's decision marks an important victory not only for Reds supporters but also sets an example for other clubs grappling with similar issues related to rising matchday costs. By keeping football affordable while maintaining high-quality performance on the pitch, Liverpool continues demonstrating why it is one of the most beloved clubs in English football.
