The new GXR app will cover La Liga, Ligue 1, Ligue 2, and Serie A

Dubai-based transmedia company, Galaxy Racer (GXR), has secured rights to broadcast top-tier European soccer leagues from Spain, Italy, and France across the Indian subcontinent. This move is set to position GXR as "the largest European soccer rights holder in India."

The GXR app will serve as a live streaming platform for the Spanish LaLiga, Italian Serie A – including the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa – and France’s top-flight Ligue 1 and second-tier Ligue 2. The deal with LaLiga will run for six years while agreements for Serie A and Ligue 1 matches are set for four years.

In an exciting development for fans in the Indian subcontinent, GXR is airing these matches on a free-to-air basis. Furthermore, content will soon be available in multiple regional languages such as Bengali, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Enhancing fan experience through super app

Beyond live streaming coverage of matches, GXR aims to offer users an immersive fan experience through its Super App. This platform integrates fan engagement tools along with news updates, chat features and real-money gaming options. The acquisition of broadcasting rights by GXR represents an expansion of their existing relationship with LaLiga. In 2022 they teamed up for a long-term joint venture (JV) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region along with the Indian subcontinent.

Under this JV agreement spanning over 15 years, both entities hold a 50% stake each in a UAE-based entity that acts as media rights agency handling broadcast & media rights within MENA market & Indian subcontinent. The league expects this partnership to generate over €3 billion ($2.5 billion) in revenue. Galaxy Racer's CEO, Paul Roy, expressed his enthusiasm about the deal and the company's commitment to providing an engaging platform for soccer fans across the Indian subcontinent.

Paul Roy, Galaxy Racer chief executive, said:

“The appetite for high-quality football content in India is immense, and with GXR’s Super App, we aim to cater to this demand in a way that has never been done before. Through our expertise in key areas like licensing, content creation, esports, influencer and talent management, merchandising, and music, we’re offering a truly unique and immersive football experience to the Indian audience.”

With media rights for three of Europe’s biggest leagues, GXR is making significant strides in becoming a major player in sports broadcasting within the Indian subcontinent. This move not only provides fans with access to top-tier European soccer but also enhances their viewing experience through innovative fan engagement tools and features.
