Toffees won’t have to make additional payments to Spurs if they offer new contract to Alli’s

Everton Football Club has reportedly reached a new agreement with Tottenham Hotspur regarding the re-signing of former England international, Dele Alli. According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the new deal stipulates that Everton will not have to pay any further fees should they offer Alli a new contract.

Under their initial agreement, Everton was due to pay Tottenham £10m after 20 appearances by Dele Alli. However, due to an injury that kept him off the field last season and his subsequent release when his contract expired last month, this payment did not materialize.

The revised agreement means that while performance-related bonuses and sell-on clauses from the original deal remain intact, no additional payments will be required if Everton decides to re-sign Alli.

Dele Alli looking to make return

Alli is currently training with Toffees during this pre-season under Sean Dyche's supervision. Dyche has made it his personal mission to help revive Alli’s career and get him back on top of his game - a move that could greatly benefit Everton at this point in time.

Following the release of Andre Gomes along with Dele Alli earlier on, there was a need for fresh midfield options in the team. This led to Tim Iroegbunam joining as an additional option. However, given Amadou Onana’s impending move to Aston Villa [Fabrizio Romano], more additions are deemed necessary by many fans and pundits alike.

The potential impact of re-signing Dele

At peak form, Dele was considered one of the best goalscoring midfielders globally but has been held back in recent years due to injuries and personal issues. Currently focused on proving his fitness again and willing to take a significant drop in wages, Dele's return could be a valuable asset to the squad.

The new agreement with Tottenham means that Everton can re-sign Alli without any financial obligations towards Spurs. This reduces the risk associated with offering him fresh terms and makes his potential return even more appealing.

As Everton continues its pre-season preparations, all eyes will be on Dele Alli and whether he can prove himself worthy of a new contract. With no financial strings attached to Spurs in this deal, it will indeed be interesting to see how this situation unfolds in the coming weeks.
