Curtis Jones is seriously weighing up his future at Liverpool and is considering a summer exit from his boyhood club, with talks over a new contract having stalled and the 25-year-old growing frustrated at his inability to command a regular starting place under Arne Slot.
Jones has made 44 appearances across all competitions this season but has started just 13 Premier League games — a statistic that reflects the tension between his importance as a squad player and his ambitions to be a first-team regular.
He joined Liverpool's academy at the age of nine and has made 222 appearances for the senior side, making any potential departure a significant moment for both club and player.
The clubs waiting in the wings
Aston Villa are understood to have added Jones to their summer targets with Unai Emery's side looking to strengthen their midfield. Tottenham Hotspur have also registered an interest, though their pursuit is contingent on avoiding relegation. Inter Milan made a formal approach in January — with Fabrizio Romano confirming direct club-to-club talks — before Liverpool declined to sanction the deal. Manchester City have also been linked with the England international.
With Jones entering the final year of his contract in the summer, Liverpool face a straightforward decision: offer him a new deal with the promise of more minutes, or cash in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2027.
Ryan Gravenberch has already committed to a new contract and Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to follow. Liverpool are monitoring Eduardo Camavinga, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton as potential incomings. Jones's departure would create room in the squad and generate a fee that can be reinvested — and the signals from all sides suggest a summer sale is the most likely outcome.
