Poland's premier league, Ekstraklasa, has officially launched the sales process for domestic and international media rights across its next cycle, which spans from 2027 to 2031. The league anticipates securing broadcast partners by the end of 2026.
The tender process is being managed by a dedicated team of experts within Ekstraklasa. This team includes Małgorzata Borkowska, Leszek Miklas, Marcin Serafin, Michał Fereniec, Jarosław Stróżyk and Kinga Szkutnik. The league has emphasized that this process will be conducted with utmost competitiveness and transparency.
Currently, Canal Plus - a pay-TV giant - primarily broadcasts Ekstraklasa domestically under a four-year agreement worth PLN1.3 billion ($330.3 million), or PLN325 million annually. This deal was announced in October 2022 and will run through the 2026-27 campaign. In addition to Canal Plus' coverage of live matches from Poland's top-tier soccer league, there is also an ongoing multi-year sub-licensing agreement with Polish public-service broadcaster TVP that extends through the same period (unveiled last July).
New developments on horizon
Alongside initiating this rights sales process for its upcoming cycle starting in 2027 until 2031 , Ekstraklasa is also investing in infrastructure development with plans to open a new media centre in 2027. This facility will serve as both production hub and content headquarters for the league.
As we approach round twelve of the current season (2025-26), Górnik Zabrze leads at top of the Ekstraklasa table.
The tender process for Ekstraklasa's media rights is a significant event in the sports broadcasting landscape. It not only determines who will be able to broadcast some of the most exciting soccer matches globally, but also sets the tone for how these games are presented to fans. With a dedicated team at helm and a commitment to transparency, Ekstraklasa is poised to make strategic partnerships that will enhance its visibility and reach among soccer enthusiasts worldwide.
