Buzz 16 has been entrusted with the task of producing BBC Sport's WSL coverage for the upcoming three years

Buzz 16, a renowned production company, has been named the official production partner for BBC Sport's Women's Super League (WSL) coverage. The partnership is set to last for three years, marking a significant milestone in the sports broadcasting industry.

In an exclusive reveal by Broadcast Sport, it was announced that Buzz 16 will be responsible for producing BBC Sport’s WSL coverage over the next three years. This partnership signifies a major step forward in enhancing the visibility and reach of women's football on mainstream media platforms.

The first game under this new arrangement will be between Arsenal and London City Lionesses at the Emirates Stadium on September 6th. Following this inaugural match, another twenty games are scheduled to be covered by Buzz 16 throughout the season.

Distribution of coverage

Out of these upcoming fixtures, fourteen will be broadcasted on linear platforms while the remaining games will be shown through iPlayer as per stipulations in the five-year rights deal agreed upon by BBC in 2024.

Sky Sports is also set to play a significant role in airing WSL matches with plans to broadcast as many as 118 games per season. Details about its production plans have been released separately.

Little Dot Studios manages both WSL and Women’s Championship digital channels which provide live match streaming services along with highlights and long-form content. They also deliver real-time matchday coverage using live clip rights and photography which significantly enhances viewer experience during each game.

Rebranded WSL football

The Women's Super League has recently undergone rebranding efforts and is now managed by 'WSL Football'. This change comes after an impressive performance from England Women’s team who successfully retained their European Championship title this summer.

Scott Melvin, co-founder and CEO of Buzz16, said:

“At Buzz we live and breathe football and with the stratospheric growth of women’s football it is a very fitting start to the 2025/6 season for us to be playing such a vital role in the broadcast of the WSL.

“WSL is committed to growing the women’s game for the future - a sentiment we wholly echo - so we’re incredibly proud to be their newest production partner.”

This new partnership between Buzz 16 & BBC, along with the rebranding of WSL Football, is expected to bring about a new era in women's football coverage. It promises to provide sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts with more access and insights into the exciting world of women's football.
