Bundesliga International has renewed its content collaboration with global media platform, Footballco. The partnership aims to deliver the most captivating stories from Germany's top two football divisions to fans in the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), and Sub-Saharan Africa regions.
Footballco is a renowned owner and operator of several free-to-use properties, including Kooora - the largest digital sports publisher in the Middle East. It also operates GOAL, a global football publisher that caters to fans in MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa by publishing local editions in Arabic and English while managing various regional social media accounts.
Bundesliga International Chief Marketing Officer, Peer Naubert, said:
“Since 2018 and the introduction of the Bundesliga International’s localised marketing strategy, our focus has been on working with the highest quality partners in order to let them tell the most relevant and engaging stories to their audiences. Content partners are a key element of that strategy, and our extended partnership with Footballco is the perfect example of this, with the ‘Era of Arabs’ documentary aptly showing Bundesliga fans – new and old – the great history German football has with the region, a legacy which continues today.”
Highlighting Arab players' history
The year kicks off with an exciting three-part documentary series produced by Footballco about the history of Arab players in Bundesliga. Titled "The Era of Arabs," this series traces the impact of Arab players who have left their mark on German territory up until those who continue to make waves today.
Contributions from pioneering Moroccan international Rachid Azzouzi, reigning Bundesliga champion Amine Adli from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and Champions League runner-up Ramy Bansebaini from Borussia Dortmund are featured prominently throughout this series. This highly anticipated documentary will be released via Footballco’s networks which reach over 250 million monthly fans across both regions. The first episode is already available for viewing while subsequent episodes will be published on January 23rd and 30th respectively.
As a content partner directly involved with DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga, Footballco enjoys access to one of world's largest digital football archives along with additional photos, graphics etc., enabling it to create unique content formats that tell compelling stories reaching millions globally.
Collaborations with broadcast partners
Bundesliga’s network collaborates closely with league’s broadcast partners such as beIN Sports and its streaming partner, TOD, in the Middle East. In Sub-Saharan Africa, partnerships include Azam TV, Canal+, New World Television, SABC, StarTimes and ZAP Media.
Content partners cherry-pick the most thrilling Bundesliga stories and use DFL's extensive media inventory to present each story in a regionally appropriate manner. Footballco is part of a network of over 20 content partners strategically located worldwide that work with the league and its clubs to provide engaging content.
Every season these posts reach approximately two billion unique individuals with nearly 500 million engagements across social and digital channels. This renewed partnership between Bundesliga International and Footballco promises to continue delivering high-quality football content to fans around the world.
