England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced the return of Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden to his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania. In addition, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has received his first call-up to the senior squad.
Tuchel's latest selection sees a few notable omissions. Brighton striker Danny Welbeck remains absent despite public calls for his inclusion. Jack Grealish, currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold also miss out on this round of selections. Bellingham's recall comes after he was left out of Tuchel's squad in October due to recovery from shoulder surgery. Similarly, Manchester City playmaker Foden makes a return after missing out on three previous England squads.
The forthcoming fixtures are crucial as they will be England’s final competitive outings prior to next summer's World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. After qualifying by thrashing Latvia last month, England will host Serbia on Thursday 13 November before travelling to Albania three days later for their final Group K game.
New faces and returns
Alex Scott is set to make his debut in the senior team following an impressive performance with Bournemouth this season where he scored once helping them secure fifth place in the Premier League table so far.
Other players making a comeback include Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope, Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly and Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton while Morgan Gibbs-White, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ruben Loftus-Cheek James Trafford and Ollie Watkins have been dropped from this round of selection.
