Arsenal desperately need win to keep their Premier League title hopes alive

Arsenal is set to face off against their London rivals, Chelsea, in a midweek Premier League match on Tuesday night at the Emirates. This encounter comes after the Gunners secured a much-needed victory over an injury-plagued Wolves at Molineux.

The recent win has propelled Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League table, providing some relief following a challenging period that saw them bow out of the Champions League. The Gunners' resilience and determination have been key in overcoming these hurdles and returning to winning ways. However, Manchester City will hold two games in hand on Arsenal by Thursday when they take on Brighton.

Interestingly, it was Manchester City who halted Chelsea's FA Cup run over the weekend with Bernardo Silva scoring a scrappy late winner that advanced his team into the FA Cup final at Chelsea's expense. This season has been marked by upheaval for west London club Chelsea. Despite high hopes for Mauricio Pochettino igniting success during Todd Boehly’s era as owner, results have not met expectations. With only pride left to play for this season and a mid-table finish likely looming, there is little left but satisfaction from potentially disrupting Arsenal’s title charge.

In their previous meeting this season, both teams played out an exciting 2-2 draw with Mikel Arteta’s Gunners making an impressive comeback from being 2-0 down against their city rivals.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Team News

Jurrien Timber remains the only confirmed absentee in the Arsenal squad. He has been sidelined due to a serious knee injury he sustained on his debut. However, there's good news for Gunners fans as Timber is making steady progress in his recovery process and is expected to return soon.

Arsenal possible starting lineup: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz, Trossard

Takehiro Tomiyasu may be fit enough to play after recovering from a minor knock. Additionally, Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko are being considered as prime candidates to enter the line-up. Given the demanding schedule of matches, some degree of rotation in player selection is likely.

Contrary to rumors circulating about star player Palmer carrying an injury, Chelsea manager Pochettino has denied these claims outrightly. However, Palmer's participation remains doubtful due to illness rather than any physical ailment.

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Petrovic; Disasi, Silva, Chalobah, Chilwell; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson

Christopher Nkunku is close to making a comeback after his recent setback but this game might come too soon for him. Similarly, Robert Sanchez along with Levi Colwill are also on their way back into contention which will surely boost team morale.

Unfortunately not all news can be positive; Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell have been confirmed as out of action due to injuries they've sustained recently. Moreover Reece James Lesley Ugochukwu Wesley Fofana Romeo Lavia have also joined the injured list which will undoubtedly affect team strategy going forward.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Prediction

Arsenal has always been a team that thrives under pressure. Their recent match against Wolves was no exception. Despite facing one of the most formidable teams in the league, The Gunners showcased an impressive display of tenacity and resilience.

Their performance was marked by strategic gameplay, effective communication on-field, and an unwavering commitment to securing victory. They managed to overcome Wolves with a combination of skillful tactics and sheer determination - proving once again why they are considered among the best in Europe this season.

On the other hand, we have Chelsea – a team that has historically been known for its aggressive playstyle and ability to dominate matches. However, they seem to be struggling this season when it comes to finding their cutting edge.

Despite boasting some of Europe’s top players within their ranks, they have found it challenging to overcome strong defences this season. Their inability to penetrate through robust defensive lines has resulted in them falling short against top-tier teams – something that is uncharacteristic for a club with such pedigree.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea

Arsenal vs Chelsea will be televised on TNT Sports 1, and TNT Sports Ultimate.
